Diagnostics
MRI
MRI is a type of imaging that allows the doctor to see inside the body using a large magnet to create 3D images of the soft tissue and bones. This type of scan is ideal to evaluate bone and tissue trauma, arthritis, cartilage, tendonitis, infection, and tumors. This type of scan does not use radiation or xrays. It does have some restrictions if you have some types of metal or devices such as pacemakers or valves.
CT
CT or CAT scans uses xrays to view the inside of the body in 3 dimensions to evaluate for conditions such as arthritis, tumors, fractures, infections, foreign objects. This type of imaging does use a small dose of radiation so is often not recommended for those who are pregnant or young children
Xrays
X-rays are a very simple type of imaging which allows the doctor to see the bones of the foot or leg. At Prairie Foot and Ankle have a modern, digital, low dose x-ray system which is able to capture high resolution images of the foot and ankle. This is a very important part of diagnosing arthritis, flat foot, broken bones, bunions, and alignment of the foot.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a device which uses sound waves to view under the skin. The ultrasound can view soft tissue, ligaments, arteries, and veins in real time. This is useful in diagnosing a wide variety of conditions, evaluating blood flow and blockages, as well as guiding injections with a high level of accuracy.
